Napier City Business Inc (NCBI) is launching a promotional campaign to invite locals back to shop, dine and play in the CBD.
Since Cyclone Gabrielle, retail and hospitality in the CBD have been noticeably quiet. Trade and foot traffic has decreased dramatically. General Manager Pip Thompson says we play a vital role in advocating and promoting our CBD on behalf of our CBD membership. We must ensure our local community and region know Napier CBD is open and a beautiful, safe, clean place to shop, dine, play, and visit.
The campaign launches on Monday, April 17, with a fun, lively, and culturally diverse video using business owners within the CBD saying Napier City is Open in their birth languages, including Te Reo Maori, English, French, Portuguese, Mandarin, Hindi, Russian, Iranian, Thai and Japanese.
The campaign is also designed to encourage membership involvement. Many signs have been made in different sizes so business owners can take ownership of their promotion using the same messaging, inviting their regulars back and enticing new shoppers.
Thompson says the CBD campaign complements Hawkes Bay Tourism’s recently launched ‘Live from Hawke’s Bay campaign. Hawke’s Bay Tourism is mandated to promote the region to out-of-towners, while the NCBI’s role is to promote the City’s CBD to locals and visitors once they arrive.
CBDs rely on locals to shop locally every day. Tourism and events, including cruise ships and concerts, are like the icing on the cake. Thompson says we are fortunate in Napier City; we have something for everyone. We are a family-friendly city by day and are home to an electric nightlife with award-winning, nationally recognised restaurants, bars, and cafes.
Winter is fast approaching. The NCBI message is to dress (or shop!) for the weather, get out, and support local businesses as much as possible. There’s plenty to see and do, shopping and dining for everyone in the family. Napier City is open for business!
