Winter in the City: Warm up winter with fun, food, and festivities in Napier’s CBD!

This July, escape the winter blues and enjoy a month full of fun and festive activities with Winter in the City. Organised by Napier City Business Inc, this exciting series of events kicks off Monday 1 July, 2024 and is designed to attract crowds, foster connections, and support local businesses.

NCBI General Manager Pip Thompson shares, “This season is likely to be really challenging for our businesses and community, so we’re doing everything we can to bring warmth and comfort to the city.”

One of the highlights is a special mid-year visit from Santa himself! With kids already missing the jolly man, this is the perfect opportunity to spread cheer and bring smiles to their faces.

From cozy, soul-warming soups to a magical mid-winter Christmas celebration and exciting events for the kids, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.

SOUP IN THE CITY | 1-31 July

Who can resist the comfort of a hot soup in winter? Throughout July, enjoy a “soup-er” selection of soul-soothing soups from your favourite Napier CBD restaurants and cafes. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing a quick fix, Soup in the City has you covered.

Street Soup: Grab a steaming cup of soup with a side carb for just $10, available Thursdays & Saturdays throughout July, 11:30am – 2:00pm (or until sold out) at the corner of Emerson & Market St. Stay tuned for menu updates on our Facebook event.

Vote for your favourite soup and be in to win a $200 CBD gift voucher (of your choice). Your vote will help us crown the 2024 Soup in the City champion.

MID-WINTER CHRISTMAS IN THE CITY & MARKET DAY | Saturday 13 July

Celebrate the magic of a mid-winter Christmas! It’s the perfect way to bring some festive cheer to the middle of the year. Saturday, 13 July, from 11am to 3pm in the heart of Napier CBD.

Picture this: Santa and his elves, Christmas carols in the street, festive flavours, warming street soup, face painting, market stalls & mid-winter sales, all set against the backdrop of our beautiful city.

• Face painting for the kids

• Meet Santa and his elves in person 12-2pm @ the Santa Station near Life Pharmacy on Emerson Street. Bring the kids along to share their early Christmas wishes with the jolly man himself

KIDS IN THE CITY | 18-20 July

Bring the kids to the city for an action-packed end-of-school holiday adventure.

Bounce, climb, and race through an action packed double lane inflatable obstacle course. It’s the perfect challenge for young adventurers aged 8-15 years. Face painters will be there to transform your kiddos into their favourite superheroes, animals, and more.

Enjoy special treats like donuts, candy floss, and popcorn available for purchase.

18-20 July, 11am – 3pm. Gold coin donation for obstacle course and face painting. All profits go to Napier Family Centre, supporting local families in need.
