IYKYK according to Tiago & Sofia

Tiago and Sofia brought a little slice of Portugal to the heart of Napier when they opened Lisbon Artisan Pastry Shop – and their famous Portuguese tarts have had locals hooked ever since. Originally from Lisbon, they moved here for the lifestyle and stayed for the community.

EAT
Vinci’s is our go-to for a quick slice between batches – fast, tasty, and just around the corner. For a proper breakfast, it’s Mister D every time. Classic done well.

DRINK
Always Monica Loves. Great beer, good people, and a cosy little spot that feels like a break from the world.

SHOP
We don’t get much time to shop (bakery life!), but we love wandering the CBD when we can. There’s something special about how many great little spots are packed into the city centre – whether it’s books, pantry staples, or beautiful homewares you didn’t know you needed.

PLAY / SEE / DO
With just one day off, most Sundays are for sleeping in and recharging at home. But when we’ve got the energy, a stroll through the Sunday Market on Marine Parade is the perfect reset. It’s fun, full of great local stalls, and you can grab something tasty to eat by the sea.

WHY I CALL NAPIER HOME
We moved here from Lisbon and opened the bakery just before the cyclone hit – not the easiest timing, but we’ve never regretted it. Napier has a rhythm and charm that drew us in straight away. The people, the pace, the character… it just fits. And we’ve seen the city shift too – Fridays used to be our busiest day, but these days Thursday feels like the new Friday.
