If our studio crew has a lil somethin’ somethin’ to celebrate, Goldie’s is our latest go-to. Love this fresh space with a super tasty casual menu. Hot tip: gotta get a table early on a Friday cause this place is buzzing! For those extra special occasions (like birthdays or impressing out-of-town guests), I hit Central Fire Station Bistro. Sam and the crew know how to put on an epic feed with impeccable service. It’s an experience that never disappoints.
DRINK
Hands down, Teresa Cocktail Bar is the spot for the best cocktails in town. Every drink they serve is a masterpiece. Warm, cozy, delightful…it’s dangerously easy to settle in and stay all night.
SHOP
I’m a little bit of a book worm and Wardini’s is the coolest book shop this side of the earth. They’ve got the best niche titles and really know their stuff – especially when it comes to picking a gift. If they don’t have something obscure in stock, they’ll usually track it down for me.
A few more fave stops: Max for threads, Boardzone for surf essentials, Chantal’s for vitamins and herbal tinctures, and Music Machine for gear advice for my 11-year-old muso at home.
PLAY/SEE/DO
Weekend dates with my daughter usually involve a jam down at Bay Skate and a slice of Mortadella at Vinci’s. I’ve also got to shout out my home gals at Vertu Hair for keeping my wild locks under control, and Cindy’s Nails for making sure my digits stay presentable.
WHY I CALL NAPIER HOME
After living in Wellington for so long, I thought transitioning to provincial life would be a huge adjustment. But, I wouldn’t go back! The community vibe in Napier is massive. I love walking down Emerson Street and bumping into familiar faces. People genuinely care and are always keen to support each other. We’ve got so many talented, passionate and creative peeps in this vibrant city – it’s so cool to watch everyone do their thing.
