IYKYK Napier – according to Brad

Brad is the owner and chef at Roam Café, tucked inside one of Napier’s iconic Six Sisters on Marine Parade. After 16 years in some of Melbourne’s top restaurants, he’s now doing what he loves in a place that truly feels like home – and if you trust his menu, you’ll want to trust his Napier picks too.

EAT
Faith Hope Love Malaysian Eatery. If you’ve never been to this unassuming gem on Marine Parade, it’s a must. Malaysian food that’s done really well by truly great people who care. My go-to is the Char Kway Teow with a healthy dose of their ramped-up chilli sauce.

DRINK
Teresa Cocktail Bar is the spot for the best cocktails in town. I love that I can order from their menu, or trust their built-in repertoire of my favourite classics – they nail it every time.

SHOP
I’m a massive cookbook collector and I love Wardini Books. Their selection is excellent, the shop itself feels welcoming, the staff are great (especially at gift wrapping ha ha), and it reminds me of the small independent bookshops I frequented when I lived in Melbourne.

PLAY/SEE/DO
We love to make use of the great bike paths and walkways that stretch from Taradale to the Marine Parade. It’s perfect for getting the kids out on bikes and scooters, and for making the most of Napier’s weather and views.

WHY I CALL NAPIER HOME
We moved our family to Napier for a quieter, more family-focussed life after spending most of our adult lives in Melbourne. We love the weather, the strong sense of community, and wanted to open our business here because we felt we could contribute to the city’s culture in the historical Six Sisters’ location with amazing views and charm. Food and wine was also a draw card too, so living in a place where both are produced in abundance was right up our alley.
