Adam & Megan – The Hits Hawke’s Bay
Adam and Megan start their day before most of us have even hit snooze. As co-hosts of The Hits Hawke’s Bay – 89.5, they’re the voices waking up the Bay and they know exactly where to eat, sip, stroll, and spot the best bargains around town.
EAT
Megan’s go-to? The Chicken Club from Adoro Cafe Napier. Weekly. Religiously. She swears it’s the best chicken sandwich in the Bay – world-famous in Hawke’s Bay, anyway – but can’t get the team to give up the recipe. Adam’s secret indulgence? Dollar dumpling Thursdays at Market St, such good value! For special occasions, we both head to Central Fire Station Bistro – the sourdough and brown butter is legendary!
DRINK
As early risers, we’re all about great coffee before the sun’s up – which is why we love Angkor Wat, serving great brews before 6am. If the occasion calls for something bubbly, it’s Mister D.
SHOP
Adam’s a dedicated op-shopper and swears by Cranford Hospice on Dickens Street. Megan’s the kind who finds things when she’s not looking – usually at Footloose, Villa Asti, Magazine, Max, or Dandan.
PLAY / SEE / DO
On a day off, Megan’s often out on the coast, still hoping to spot an orca (the dream lives on). Otherwise, you’ll find her with a glass of bubbles at The Globe Theatre in Ahuriri. Adam loves a Saturday morning stroll through the Napier Urban Market in Clive Square. He’s been known to order a steak and onion sandwich and they mistakenly thought he said just onion sandwich and so has become renowned for being the only person to ever order just a fried onion sandwich.
WHY WE CALL NAPIER HOME
Megan moved here for love – and stayed for the lifestyle. Adam jumped at the chance to come back to a place full of childhood memories when a job opportunity came up. These days, we feel pretty lucky to do a job we love in a city we’re proud to call home. With our studio right on Dickens Street, we can walk out of the studio and say hi to listeners and business owners, and soak up the great community vibe we’re stoked to be part of.
