Much-loved live music venue Paisley Stage has officially opened its new home upstairs at 126 Hastings Street (the former BNZ building), relocating from its long-time Carlyle Street site.
Bringing live music into the heart of town adds another layer to the CBD. It gives people a reason to head in after dark, stay a little longer, and make a night of it, with positive flow-on for neighbouring bars and restaurants.
The move has been supported by Wallace Development, whose ongoing investment in CBD buildings continues to create opportunities for businesses and culture in the city centre.
“At Wallace Development, we’re keen to support businesses locating in the CBD. Moves like this bring increased activity and vibrancy, which benefits the city centre as a whole,” says Simon Dunn, Head of Portfolio at (WDCL) Wallace Development Company Limited.
Just across the road, local bar Rogue Hop sees the move as a positive for the area.
“We’re stoked to have Paisley as a neighbour. It’ll only add to what’s already a great part of the city,” says Jeremy from Rogue Hop.
Napier City Business Inc General Manager Pip Thompson says the move is another example of businesses choosing to invest in the heart of town.
“We love seeing this kind of investment land right in the middle of the city. It’s a strong signal of confidence in the CBD and in Napier’s after-dark economy. And that is something worth celebrating.”
