Feel the Magic of Christmas in the City this festive season

Napier City Business Inc. (NCBI) is excited to bring Christmas in the City to Napier’s CBD – a month-long celebration filled with festive events and activities to light up the season. This year’s lineup is designed to create a warm, lively atmosphere that encourages everyone to shop, dine, and soak up the holiday magic while supporting our local business community in the heart of Napier.

“We’re thrilled to bring the community together in Napier’s CBD for a festive season full of joy, entertainment, and opportunities to support local,” says Pip Thompson, General Manager of NCBI. “Light up the Night is the start of something special for Napier – a new tradition we hope families will look forward to every year.

If Rockefeller Center can do it, why can’t Napier! Sure, it may not be as big, but who says we can’t bring a little big-city magic to our own backyard? This year’s tree will be back, brighter and better than ever, with extra lights and exciting new features.”

Light up the Night: Napier CBD Tree Lighting Ceremony

Get ready to kick off the Christmas season in Napier’s CBD with Light up the Night – an evening full of festive fun featuring the first official lighting of the Christmas tree at the top of Emerson Street!

Bring the family for live entertainment, free face painting, Christmas market stalls, tasty treats and a whole lot of Christmas spirit!

Plus, one lucky family will get to flick the switch and light the tree after the countdown and win a $500 CBD voucher to kickstart Christmas! Listen out to Adam & Megan for Breakfast on the hits 89.5 for your chance to win this special moment.

Event details: Saturday, 23 November 2024, 6-9pm (tree lighting will be just after sunset, approx 8:30pm) at the top of Emerson Street, Napier CBD

Napier City 150 Commemoration Day in the City

We’re celebrating Napier’s 150th anniversary on Thursday, 28 November. Following the official commemoration service on Marine Parade we’ll be giving away 150 free coffees (9-10am), 150 free ice-creams (12-2pm) – a nod to 1874, the year Napier officially became a borough. Cnr Emerson & Market St. Plus enjoy free parking for the day.

Mrs. Claus’s Happy Hour

Mrs. Claus is hitting the town for a merry midweek bar hop. She’ll be dishing out spot prizes, including vouchers for free pints and tasty bites – because nothing says holiday cheer like a round (or snack) on the house!

Santa’s Summer Grotto

Experience Santa in true summer style! Bring the family to Santa’s Summer Grotto from 14-17 December, 11am-2pm each day for a beachy twist on the classic Santa visit. 

Enjoy live entertainment, an arts & crafts station to create your own Christmas gift or card.

You’ll also go in the draw for a $250 Cool Toys voucher! Face painting and spray tattoos will be available for ages 4 and up, with donations supporting the Acorn Project.
